Dua Lipa is an English singer-songwriter was born in London on 22 August 1995. After a stint as a model and actress she was signed to Warner Bros Records. She released her debut self-titled album in 2017. It peaked in at the third spot at the top of the U.K. albums chart and had eight singles, with the most notable being U.K. number one track New Rules and Be the One I.D.G.A.F. Lipa has been awarded Brit Awards for 2018 for the categories of British Female Artist, British Breakthrough Act. In addition, her platinum-certified album is a coveted honor in multiple countries. Dua Lipa was born August 22, 1995, in London in the UK to Kosovo Albanian Anesa Rexha, and Dukagjin Lipa. Through her maternal grandmother, she has Bosnian origin. Additionally, you can trace back her ancestors in Peja, the Kosovo town of Peja. Lipa's grandfathers are both historians. Gjin and Rina are her siblings. Lipa learned to play the guitar and sing from her father Oda. Oda is the singer/guitarist who leads the Kosovan-rock band Oda. Her father at home continued to play music including his original compositions as well as songs from David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Sting The Police and Stereophonics. Lipa was only five when she started singing. When she was nine years old, she began singing at her school, the Sylvia Young Theater School. Lipa sang in the song If I'm Not Goin' to You by Alicia Keys, and Beautiful Christina Aguilera. Lipa was signed to Warner Bros. Records a contract in 2014. Her debut single New Love was released in August of 2015.
